ITEM OVERVIEW
The first book of interviews, conducted with David Barsamian. The interviews, from the early 90s, discuss the themes in his books, Orientalism, and culture and imperialism, as well as topics such as the decline of the American Left, the predicament of the liberation struggle in Palestine, western generalizations of Arab culture, and Imperialism as seen through the prism of Western literature: Joseph Conrad, Jane Austen, T.S. Eliot, Albert Camus, V.S. Naipaul, Amos Oz, and others. With an introduction by another great, sadly missed mind—Eqbal Ahmad—this remains a remarkably cogent and illuminating collection.
